The short version.
We never see or store your card number. You can donate without telling us your name. We don't sell your information to anyone, and we don't email or text you unless you ask us to.
Who we are
This website is operated by K Hawk Holdings LLC, doing business as Local Goods, at 13223 Black Mountain Rd, PMB #125, San Diego, CA 92129.
Local Goods is a for-profit limited liability company, not a registered charity. Contributions made to Local Goods are not tax deductible. We use contributions to fund donations to local causes, and we publish a record of those donations.
What we collect
When you browse this site
Nothing that identifies you. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
When you donate
Donations are processed by NMI, our payment gateway, on pages hosted by NMI. Your card details are entered on NMI's systems and never pass through this website or our servers.
From that process we may receive and store:

What we never have
We do not receive, store, or have access to your full card number or your CVV security code. Those stay with NMI. If our systems were ever breached, there is no card number in them to steal.
Recurring donations and stored cards
If you set up a monthly donation, NMI stores your card in its Customer Vault and gives us a token that points to it. We store the token, not the card. We use it only to charge the monthly amount you agreed to.
You can cancel a recurring donation at any time by emailing us. When you cancel, we stop charging you and we ask NMI to remove the stored card.
How we use what we collect

- To send you a receipt, if you gave us an email address
- To answer you when you contact us
- To detect and prevent fraud
- To keep the books that let us publish our donation record
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not feed it to third-party marketing platforms.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We share it only with:
- NMI, our payment gateway, which processes payments and stores cards on our behalf
- Our hosting provider, which serves this website
- Authorities, when we are legally required to, or to investigate fraud
The donation record we publish names the organizations that received donations. It never names the people who gave.
Email and text messages
We only email or text you if you opted in. Both settings are off by default in our systems — silence is not consent. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can stop texts by replying STOP.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, and to have it deleted. You also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information — though as stated above, we do not sell or share it.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below with enough detail for us to find your record — the email you used, or the last 4 digits of your card and the approximate date. We will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for asking.
How long we keep it
We keep donation records as long as needed for accounting and tax purposes, and then delete or anonymize them. If you cancel a recurring donation and ask us to delete your data, we remove your contact details and the stored card token, keeping only what the law requires us to keep for financial records.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Card data is handled entirely by NMI, a PCI-compliant payment gateway. Our own systems hold no card numbers. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping card data out of our hands is the single biggest thing we do to protect you.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
If you donate in person
When you donate at one of our tents, the same rules apply: the card is read by a payment terminal and handled by NMI, we never see the full number, and giving your name, email or phone is optional.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so plainly rather than burying it.
